Our special September edition of AFTER DARK, features a curated collection of fine art photography focused on the beauty of the male form. Our latest catalog is a comprehensive history of male portrait photography, from early 20th century photos and affectionate portraits by Wilhelm von Gloeden, to American trailblazers like George Platt Lynes, the PaJaMa group, Herb Ritts, and further still to contemporary legends like Jack Pierson and Annie Leibovitz. This auction also includes an array of works from the collections of tastemakers like Sir Elton John, Charles Cowles, and William Como. Highlights include: An exceptional triptych and portrait of Jack Fontan by the inimitable George Platt Lynes. A beautiful work of male portraiture by the multi-talented director, dancer, actor, and visual artist Geoffrey Holder. An iconic image taken by the PaJaMa group during one of their summer vacations in Saltaire, Fire Island, NY. A twenty-five photo series by the Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg associate Edward Oleksak. A rare platinum print by the 1980s photography legend Herb Ritts. Two original albumen photographs taken by Wilhelm von Gloeden at his estate in Taormina.
