This policy explains what personal information Auction Hawk (auction-hawk.com) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: info@auction-hawk.com.
Information we collect
- Account details you give us when you register: name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), plus optional phone number and location. Auction houses also give us business details such as address, phone, website and logo.
- Your activity on the site: the auctions and auction houses you save, your email preferences, and searches you run.
- Usage information collected automatically: pages visited, referring site, device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and similar technical data used for security and to understand how the site is used.
- Location: if you use “near me” search we use your ZIP code or, with your browser’s permission, your device location to find nearby auctions. We do not store your precise device location.
How we use it
To run the site and your account; to send emails you ask for (auction-day reminders, new-listing alerts, password resets and account notices); to review and approve auction house accounts; to keep the site secure and prevent abuse; and to measure and improve the service. You can turn reminder and alert emails off in your account at any time.
Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your choices. With your permission we also use analytics cookies, including Google Analytics and StatCounter, to count visits and see which pages are useful. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page, or block cookies in your browser.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site, under their own privacy terms: our web host, our email delivery provider, our payment processor (Stripe) for auction house listing payments, mapping and geocoding services (such as Mapbox and OpenStreetMap) for location search and maps, and analytics providers. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights and users.
When you follow a link to an auction house or bidding platform, that site’s own privacy policy applies to anything you share with it.
How long we keep it
Account information is kept while your account is open and deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period after you close it, except where we must keep records for legal, tax or security reasons. Usage data is kept in aggregate or for a limited period.
Your choices and rights
You can view and update your details in your account, change your email preferences, or ask us to delete your account by emailing info@auction-hawk.com. Depending on the state you live in (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others with consumer privacy laws), you may have rights to know, access, correct or delete your personal information and to opt out of targeted advertising or the “sale” or “sharing” of it. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email info@auction-hawk.com; we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords and access controls to protect your information. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed; significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
