The auction house’s description
Day 1: Lots 1-221 Dr. Bruce A. Austin (Pittsford, New York) was among the foremost scholars of the American Arts & Crafts movement. Professor Emeritus in Communication at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he chaired the department and later directed RIT Press, he was equally known to the antiques world as an expert in the Arts & Crafts movement who lectured and appraised widely. His scholarship centered on the movement – the Stickleys and Harvey Ellis in Syracuse, Roycroft in East Aurora, Charles Rohlfs in Buffalo, Grueby Pottery in Boston – and his books include A Symbiotic Partnership, on Gustav Stickley's 1903 Arts & Crafts exhibitions.
