Anthony Thieme (American, 1888-1954)
Oil on canvas depicting a dramatic coastal seascape with powerful white-capped waves crashing against dark, craggy rocks. The sky above glows with warm pink and orange hues, hinting at a sunset, contrasting with the cool blues and greens of the turbulent ocean. Signed 'a. thieme' in the lower right. Framed.
Anthony Thieme was an American landscape and sea painter, recognized as an important figure in the Rockport School of American regional art. He was a contemporary of notable Rockport artists such as Aldro Hibbard and Emil Gruppe, contributing significantly to the depiction of coastal scenes.
