Description
Abstract Figure with Radiant Symbols. Keith Haring (American, 1958–1990)
Vibrant mixed-media work on paper featuring a stylized orange anthropomorphic figure confronting a purple abstract form, both outlined with bold black contours and animated by radiating motion marks. The composition is set against a pale green field framed by a pink outer border, creating a striking balance of color, movement, and graphic simplicity.
The imagery strongly recalls the visual vocabulary associated with Keith Haring: simplified figures, emphatic contour lines, energetic gesture, and small radiating marks used to suggest motion, impact, or communication. The orange figure appears to react dynamically toward the purple form, giving the composition a playful yet highly charged sense of interaction.
Executed in mixed media on paper, with opaque color and black linear elements producing the flat, immediate visual effect characteristic of graphic urban art. The work bears a vertical “© K. Haring” inscription along the right margin.
The reverse bears a circular purple collection stamp reading “Nakamura Keith Haring Collection,” surrounding a small Haring-style dog emblem. This visible collector’s mark adds an additional documentary element to the presentation of the piece.
A bold and immediately recognizable composition with strong Pop and street-art appeal, combining Haring’s celebrated language of simplified forms, movement, and symbolic interaction in a compact and highly decorative format.
