Description
1988 American Silver Eagle - NGC MS69. Third-year issue bullion strike from the Philadelphia Mint, no mint mark, 1 oz .999 fine silver with $1 face value. Certified MS69 by NGC, full cartwheel luster and sharp strike with near-perfect surfaces.
The Silver Eagle program began in 1986 under the Liberty Coin Act. Obverse is Weinman's Walking Liberty from 1916, reverse is Mercanti's heraldic eagle. 1988 had a reduced bullion mintage of just 5,004,646, less than half of 1987, making it one of the lower early dates. A premium high-grade example of a key early-year issue.
