Description

This pair of early 19th-century bound sheet music volumes contains various vocal and piano compositions from the Regency and early Victorian periods. The collection includes popular ballads and operatic excerpts by noted composers such asGioachino Rossini, Sir John Stevenson, Henry Rowley Bishop, and John Clarke. A commemorative piece titled The Last Token or Remember Me honors Princess Amelia, who died in November 1810. Decorative lithographed and engraved vignettes, including a notable butterfly illustration for I'd be a Butterfly, are featured throughout the Dublin and London imprints from publishers like Goulding and Company and Willis and Company. Ownership signatures including A. Kennedy and Clarke are present, alongside stamps from the Royal Musical Repository. The volumes show significant external wear with heavy rubbing and loss at the leather spines and marbled board edges (photos 1, 2, 9). Internally, pages exhibit toning, moderate foxing, and some damp staining at the upper margins (photos 5, 11).
