Stag's Ghost by Ralph Bacon

Stag's Ghost by Ralph Bacon is a thoughtful still life inspired by the artist's lifelong fascination
with nature, fossils, and found objects. The centerpiece—a deer skull discovered in the woods
near his home and naturally weathered with lichen and time—is paired with antique objects that
each hold their own quiet story. Created in acrylic using layered techniques over a charcoal
sketch and underpainting, the work reflects Ralphs experience in plein air painting, murals, and
stage set design. More than a study of objects, Stags Ghost is a meditation on the fleeting nature
of life, encouraging viewers to appreciate the beauty found in both nature and history while
remembering to make the most of our own journey.
