1978 PCHJSHA Steer Sterling Silver Trophy Buckle

A vintage 1978 Pacific Coast Horse Show Association (PCHJSHA) trophy Western rodeo belt buckle handcrafted by Steer. The oval buckle is made from solid sterling silver decorated with classic hand-engraved bright-cut scrollwork and western flourishes. Applied gold-tone banners frame the top and bottom, detailing the category "'B' RES. STOCK OPEN" and the horse name "NIGHT HAWK". The center features large, bold gold-tone lettering reading "PCHJSHA CHAMPION" set against a deeply textured stippled background, flanked by matching gold-tone corner date banners reading "19" and "78". The reverse side features a fixed silver-tone belt loop bar and a wide hinged tension plate prong mechanism. The entire piece is finished with a continuous twisted rope border edge. The piece weighs approximately 94.1 grams and measures 3" x 3.75".
