Description
Clothes Pegs Thread Spool. Dating from the turn of the century to the Edwardian era (c. 1890s–1910s), this intriguing unsigned folding travel sewing kit (etui) comes housed in its original leather snap pouch, measuring approximately 3.5 inches high by 2.75 inches wide when closed. Essential for genteel period travelers and highly sought after by haberdashery collectors, the set includes a central blown glass thread spool vial, a paper-card spool with original thread, and a unique array of 2.25-inch miniature carved/molded cream-colored celluloid clothes pegs set against a canvas interior lining. Offered in original, unrestored antique condition, the celluloid pegs and glass spool remain intact without major breaks, while the leather case displays clear signs of age and material degradation—including surface flaking, finish loss, cracking along fold lines, tearing near the snap fastener, heavy age toning on the canvas lining, and light verdigris on the snap mechanism.
