Description

SERIAL NUMBER: 06538. BARREL: 4". CALIBER: .38 SPECIAL. MANUFACTURED: 1967. This early second-year production piece features the highly desirable 4-inch barrel configuration, widely celebrated by enthusiasts for its superb balance and classic aesthetic profile. The revolver is equipped with a wide, target-style two-tone hammer boasting polished sides and a blued spur. It is beautifully fitted with premium, unstamped checkered walnut target stocks featuring gold-plated Rampant Colt medallions, providing an elevated grip texture and a striking appearance.

This historic firearm is accompanied by its rare, original two-piece "telescoping" factory box. The box features the correct woodgrain upper lid adorned with a crisp gold foil Colt logo, an authentic black-and-yellow end label detailing the model specifications, and a solid black cardboard bottom tray. Crucially, the bottom of the tray bears the original, matching serial number hand-written in white grease pencil-a definitive hallmark of vintage factory packaging.

Completing this investment-grade ensemble is a superb assortment of period-correct factory ephemera. The included paperwork features the original Colt "Handling the Handgun" instructional brochure, the Authorized Service Center pamphlet, and the highly sought-after factory quality statement letter signed by then-Vice President R.C. Whitaker. Lacking only the consumer-mailed warranty card, this remarkably intact "Box and Docs" package represents an elite acquisition opportunity for the discerning Colt purist or firearms historian.
CONDITION: Excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The cylinder release displays a clever plumb patina. C&R 27-174
