Description
A vintage baitcasting fishing rod, likely dating to the mid-20th century. The piece features a detachable offset cast metal reel seat with a pistol-grip configuration and a knurled locking nut. The handle is finished with a tapered cork grip. The rod blank is composed of olive-green fibreglass and is equipped with metal wire guides. These guides are secured with multicoloured thread wraps in red, black, and amber tones. The design of the handle and reel seat is consistent with the Speedlock models produced by makers such as True Temper and Montague. A piece of green adhesive tape with handwritten markings is adhered to the lower portion of the blank. Condition: The cork grip exhibits significant darkening and pitting consistent with age and handling. Surface oxidation and general wear are present across the metal components of the handle and guides. The fibreglass blank shows minor surface abrasions. The inventory tape shows some wear to the edges.
