Description
A vintage Stanley No. 45 combination plane set manufactured by the Stanley Tool Co. of Canada Limited in Roxton Pond, Quebec. The multi-plane tool is constructed from nickel-plated cast iron and features a rosewood tote handle and front knob. The set includes the main stock, sliding section, two sets of fence rods (long and short), and an adjustable fence with a rosewood facing. A wooden cutter rack houses a collection of 23 steel cutters in assorted profiles, including plow, bead, sash, and match cutters. The lot includes the original paper instruction manual titled 45 Plane: Seven Planes in One and the original orange cardboard presentation box. The plane body is stamped STANLEY MADE IN CAN. The box label features the notched Stanley logo and identifies the manufacturer as The Stanley Tool Co. of Canada Limited. Dimensions (measured from visible scale): Box approx. W 30.5 cm x D 19 cm. Condition: The plane is in good vintage condition with the nickel plating remaining bright across most surfaces, showing only minor wear and small areas of surface oxidation. The rosewood handle and knob are intact with light handling wear. The steel cutters appear clean and well-maintained. The instruction manual shows age-related yellowing and light staining. The original cardboard box is in poor condition with significant structural wear, heavy surface loss, and tears to the corners.
