Description
The 1964 United States Washington Quarter features John Flanagan’s classic portrait of George Washington on the obverse and an eagle with outstretched wings on the reverse. First introduced in 1932 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Washington’s birth, the design became a lasting part of American coinage. 1964 was the final year Washington quarters were struck in 90% silver before the transition to copper-nickel clad composition in 1965. Each coin contains approximately 0.1808 troy ounces of silver.
