Description
The 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar was introduced following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 1963 as a tribute to his legacy. The obverse features Kennedy’s portrait, designed by Gilroy Roberts, while the reverse displays the Presidential Seal, designed by Frank Gasparro. The 1964 issue was the only regular Kennedy half dollar struck in 90% silver, containing approximately 0.3617 troy ounces of silver. This coin marks the beginning of one of the most recognizable series in modern American coinage.
