Description
A pair of standard-issue West German Bundeswehr (Federal Defence Forces) field cutlery sets, designed for NATO service during the Cold War. Each set is manufactured from stainless steel and utilises a space-saving nested design, comprising a spoon, fork, and knife that slide into a combination bottle and can opener sleeve. One opener is stamped with the manufacturer mark W M F for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik above the BUND property mark. The reverse of the openers are stamped OFW 90 BUND and OFW 85 BUND, indicating production by Ohliger Franz, Wald-Solingen, in 1990 and 1985 respectively. Length approx. 19 cm (approx. 7.5 inches, note: only inches shown on visible tape measure). Condition: Both sets are in issued, field-used condition with widespread surface scratching, scuffing, and abrasions consistent with military service. The nesting and interlocking mechanisms are functional and the stainless steel remains bright without significant corrosion.
