Description
An architectural etching with drypoint by A. J. Moir depicting a historic stone castle gatehouse and ramparts. The scene features a central arched entryway and defensive walls with crow-stepped gables, set against a lightly etched sky. The artist uses dense cross-hatching and drypoint to create deep shadows and textures on the masonry. A distinct rectangular plate mark is present. The print is signed in pencil A. J. Moir in the lower right margin. It is presented in a cream mat and a black wooden frame under glass. The reverse includes a gallery label from Rembrandt Galleries, North Vancouver, B. C. Dimensions measured against a tape measure: Frame: approx. 13.6 in x 11.1 in Mat opening: approx. 7.25 in x 5.25 in Plate mark: approx. 6 in x 4 in. Condition: The paper shows uniform age toning and several small spots of foxing in the margins. The printed image is well-preserved. The frame has minor wear and light scuffing. The paper backing on the reverse is torn and fragile.
