Description
A limited edition photomechanical print, an offset lithograph, after the 1921 oil painting Stormy Weather by the Canadian artist Frederick Horsman Varley (1881–1969), a founding member of the Group of Seven. The composition depicts a solitary, wind-swept tree on a rocky shoreline set against turbulent waters and an expressive sky. The print is numbered 490/495 in pencil to the lower-left margin. Centred below the image plate is the printed title Stormy Weather, and to the lower right is the printed attribution By F. H. Varley. The work is presented in a triple-layered mat and housed in a decorative black frame featuring a gilt egg-and-dart inner border. Condition: The print is in good condition with no evidence of foxing, toning, or fading. The frame and glazing are intact, with the frame showing only minor surface wear and light scuffing to the edges consistent with age.
